On a recent buying trip, I stumbled onto this “nest” of NOS, (New Old Stock), stamped metal enamel signs, (Like a license plate) They all have never been used, some even still have the paper wrapping from when they were manufactured! Sizes are 2 ½” x 11” L for some, 3” x 12” for the balance. Needless to say, I grabbed them all! Most are off white back round with black lettering, except as noted. Rosewood Bedroom Set

To say I was excited the night I found this set is understating things to say the least! I NEVER find Rosewood, let alone things of this quality! And to find THREE MATCHING PIECES as clean and pristine as these, needless to say I was beside myself! Set consists of a low dresser with mirror, a vanity with mirror, and a tall chest, also with mirror, all beveled of course! Each piece has French feet, gracefully curved legs, reverse serpentine fronts, beautiful carved applied carvings.  I married the full bed to the set, which is walnut, but has some burled highlites that work well with the other pieces. This is a real find!

Herter Brothers Rocking Chair  [07-232]
The Herter Brothers Furniture Co. manufactured very high end furniture for prominent  and prosperous persons in NY from about 1850 to the 1880’s. This chair was one of their pieces, clearly showing the oriental influence of the day with it’s carved dragons and scales. Chair is solid cherry, extremely comfortable.

Civil War Campaign Bed [14-176]
I was told by the person I purchased this from that it was an officer’s campaign bed from the civil war. I cannot gaurantee that that information is accurate, but that is what I was told. Never the less, it’s a very cool bed! Legs fold underneath and head and foot rest folds over onto the top.  It is signed “C. L. BROWN,  BRATTLEBORO, VT” underneath. My research shows he was a furniture maker of that area at the time of the war, but did not serve. I think in any case, it would make a major cool coffee table!!

Sellers Oak Hoosier Cabinet

Circa Mid-1920’s. Completely restored to natural oak finish. This model comes equipped with the patented Seller’s “self lowering flour bin”, enamel top, spice racks, sliding pot shelf, lid rack on door, cookbook holder on upper door, bread drawer,  grinder bracket, and my favorite feature, Sellers exclusive “ANT PROOF CASTERS”! All the door latches are also original, with the embossed “S” on their fronts.  This is a great looking cabinet. Never in a basement, no water damage ever anywhere, as you typically find with 90 % of them! I took it out of a kitchen in Long Island myself! You will not find a nicer one around anywhere!

Victorian Era Mousetrap  [14-180]
Yes, that’s correct. This trap dates back to around 1870-1880, and was probably one of the original “Have a heart” traps! I found it in a barn upstate in NY and just had to have it! (I’m a real sucker for cool stuff like this!)
Not in the best condition, some rust clearly evident. Would make a great mantle conversation piece though!
